Australia Flooding

Major flooding continues in Townsville, Queensland, Australia as monsoon moisture continue to stream inland.  The flood gates on the Ross River Dam have been opened causing significant flooding downstream.  The dam has a normal capacity of 233,187 Megalitres.  Currently, the dam is releasing 228.3% more water (532,451 Megalitres) than normal.  The current release level can be found on Twitter @RossRiverDam. These are some historic levels as seen in the graph at right.





In addition to high water levels, residents are being urged to stay out of the water.  Reports of crocodiles and snakes have been made.
